HANDMADE POTTERY STRAIGHT GLASS

I live in a small house. A really small house. With three kids. And a dog. And a cat. And legos and laundry. And a mudroom full of….well, mud. Our space is so small that we cannot have our ‘art’ over here and our ‘things for using’ over there. There just isn’t enough room. Alas, does this mean we forgo art as we eek out some sort of mundane utilitarian existence? Not so!

Actually, I find the exact opposite to be true. In my home, our art becomes our everyday things for using. The beauty of stoneware pottery is not just that it is a custom, handmade work of art, but also it is useful and purposeful in our everyday lives. As such, we surround ourselves with the rich reward of art, simply by pouring ourselves a glass of cold water in a handmade pottery cup. Life becomes luxurious in its simplicity. Art = Daily Life and thus, Daily Life = Art. What a concept!
